Gigs are low-key performances from musicians and the phrase "gig" seems to apply more to a seedy New York club than to Wembley Stadium. This can be confusing because most musicians call every performance a gig, but they're often being ironic when they're referring to large, hugely popular performances. In that sense they're sort of saying, "Look at me and how popular I am! Yet I am also humble and I retain my charming personality formed when I flipped burgers at Jakk in the Boxx." At any rate, you'll find an extensive listing of gigs in this section of the site and hopefully some great places that will teach you more about local music.
