Description
It is said that the jazz is one of the only world musics completely and originally an American creation. Rooted in the pentatonic scale and a I-IV-V chord progression, the jazz and blues come from the African slaves singing spirituals in the fields of White plantations. As the years passed and blacks won their freedom, jazz sprouted up in the rich creole regions of New Orleans on the banks of the Mississippi River. It is the jazz and the blues that formed the basis of what now know as rock 'n roll and it is these websites which can teach you about everyone from composers such as Scott Joplin and ragtime to the horns of Dizzy Gillespie and the crazed genius of Miles Davis.
